Temporal Trends in Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis
During my tenure as a research trainee at Arthritis Research Canada, my master’s thesis revolved around investigating the evolving patterns of heart disease risk among individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) over a span of time.
Our study revealed that individuals diagnosed with RA more recently exhibited a lower likelihood of experiencing heart attacks within the initial decade of their disease compared to those diagnosed earlier. The observed improvement in heart attack risk over time mirrored the trends observed in the general population.
